Booting from an iBook in FW mode

Postby revs » 28 Mar 2005, 22:57

Ok, no idea if this is possible, but thought I would ask.

If i had a iBook with YDL installed, could i boot it up in firewire mode and use that as a external HD from which i'd boot another (say G5) computer?

i.e. boot into the linux that is on that computer?

so instead of installing linux on my g5, i could install it ont he ibook, and if needed, connect the ibook to the G5 in FW mode and boot the G5 into linux off that... hoep you get what i mean.

Any suggestions welcome! :)

:D

EDIT: in theory it should be no different that a external FW HD when in FW mode right?

yes in theory i dont see why you couldnt boot ur ibook up in target mode and use it as a bootable drive (though i am unaware of the changes they made to anaconda and yaboot to allow fw boot-though i do have it working off of my lacie drive :) )
