When i installed 10.4 it now ignores yaboot and boots right into OSX
what do I need to do to get it to use Yaboot instead?

I haven't tried it, but this page: http://www.terrasoftsolutions.com/support/solutions/ydl_4.0/reset_boot.shtml says that you have several choices, based on your configuration.
