ATI Radeon Mobility Drivers - Any hope?

AlBook with ATI Radeon Mobility 9600 (64 MB)...

Anyone know of any drivers or work arounds? Video performace is pretty ratty right now. Windows leave trails and artifacts when moved. exen the simplest 3D (TuxRacer) is out of the question.

Anyone know anything about this? I'm willing to compile, go through dependency hell, whatever it takes.

Thanks.

Even on the X86 Linux side this card is a bear.

Yeah, after doing extensive research I found ATI's "driver"... Closed source and x86 only... talk about supporting linux, right?

I found some shady driver source files, but, I'm not going to push it. I'm dual booting OS X, so I don't really need the performance from YDL, I'm just having fun with it... It would have been nice to see those cool 3D screensaver fly though.

Also, sine I've switched to GNOME, the video performance is fine in the UI, just no 3d stuff.

even on the linux(i386/amd64) side ATI's driver are a little bit..... :x

I wouldn't expect any 3d support in the near future for ppc.
