3d accelleration on ibook g3 with Radeon Mobility 7500

Postby kamika » 13 Mar 2006, 18:54

Just a quick note,
i got 3d accelleration working with YDL 4.1 by adding the following modules in "Module" section

Code: Select all
Load "dri"
Load "glx"

Needed a reboot but is working fine now.

Just installed YDL 4.1 last night, so I might write a little howto for tweaking the g3 ibooks.

Greetings

same here with a PowerBook G4!

YDL 4.1
ATI Radeon 9600
driver "radeon"
16bit color depth
glxgears reports about 300 fps in the standard window

yes, there are still some issues with cards above the 9200 version

I'm almost up to 1000fps.

Hopefully the ATI drivers will improve, but at least it's already working :-)

Is your dual head working?

doh!! :?

ok, glxinfo says "direct rendering: NO" - it's the MESA lib.

hmm, YDL installs automatically the "fbdev" driver. I switched manually to "radeon", but unfortunately I can't see a better 3D perfomance.

sorry, I have no DVI monitor here (also not an adapter).
