Scodiddly, you have to remember that they did a major kernel step from 3.x to 4.x (2.4.x to 2.6.x) the kernel modules are both written and interfaced differently between the 2. Owen (one of TSS' techs) has made some great strides in his work w/ the systems (he's the one who wrote the kernel patches that fixed sound and sleep on systems) From what I picked up he rewrote the alsa driver to fix the sound issue-though I do see now why his sleep patch didnt hit the main kernel tree yet

So... is the sleep issue fixed or not? I'd love to start using YDL 4; I bought the geek edition last fall and the sleep issue was a show-stopper. I ended up going back to 3.0.1.

OK, I had already burned the "4.0.1 in disguise" ISO's to CDR, so in a few days when the current big project is (hopefully) over I'll give it another shot.

(sigh)

I just installed 4.0.1.

Same damn sleep problem.

This sucks.

I'd love to be running YDL 4, it's really nice. Some definite annoyances from 3.0.1 fixed, like how the Airport is handled. Plus everything is updated, nicer, etc.

But this sleep issue is a complete show-stopper for me.

I'll live with the problem for a couple days, to report any system messages, try out suggestions, etc. Then it's back to 3.0.1 again.

OK, now I'm confused. StarKnight, you were saying that the second set of "4.0 Orion" ISO's were really 4.0.1... but now there's a "4.0.1" set of ISOs up. What the...???

Im not sure-I was going off of what ive ask/been told on the irc channel about the public isos (ive always used my enhanced account for the isos cause of the faster dl rate and theyre the most up to date)

I downloaded the 4.0.1 iso images, burned to CD, and installed.

Still the same exact sleep problem.

I'm not happy. I'm going to try Ubuntu again with that dbus script. I don't see much point in trying YDL again. I'm not upset about having spent money on YDL 4, since YDL 2.3 and 3.0 were both decent and I got a lot of use out of them (paid for them, too), and I don't think I've spent over $100 to YDL in all this time (generally bought the cheap Geek Edition). But I am annoyed that this problem, which was fixed in an earlier edition, is still broken some 5-6 months after release.
