I'm thinking about installing YDL on my iBook G3 14". What about that fast StandBy function of OS X, what's the solution of YDL? Is it as quick?

It's important for me cause I have to open my iBook very often only for a minute..

yep there is, (assuming you're in KDE) click the K>Control Center>Power Control>Laptop Battery>check out both the Power Control tab and the APM tab both of which let you set the time the laptop suspends and whether or not to enable the suspend feature
