YDL 6.0 & Titamium Powerbook install prob

Postby EnigmaSir » 20 Aug 2008, 03:27

I have just burned the YDL 6.0 DVD and reparitioned my tibook.

I'm able to boot up to the boot prompt of the YDL 6.0 DVD.

If I choose install or install_text, after some initial text on the screen, my monitor on my tibook starts to slowly go completely black. All the text disappears. If I press return the DVD starts to spin but I can not see anything on the screen.

Anyone else having this problem? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

If it goes slow it sounds like a background light problem. Try to brighten the display with the usual keys. Or maybe the battery is close to death. But ihmo if it fades out slowly, then you are in a backlight/energy disaster. Having a TiBook as well, mine was to install easy, besides of the fact X-server needed a kick in the ass to get up cause I wasn't able to use the radeon driver and needed to use fbdev instead. But that was after installation when it was starting up first time and did the X-server setup. If you run in the same ask again. I also would be interested if you run in the same problems than I was.

I have the tibook G4 with the TI Rage M6 video card.

I tried using the video kernel parameter of video=atyfb and nada. Same symptoms.

The only way that to get pass this part was to pass the video=ofonly option (which I found in a ubuntu forum).

Seems like the graphical installer won't start but the text based one will.
