No Internet Wireless or Otherwise - iBook G3 700 - YDL 4.0

Postby templar » 12 Aug 2005, 01:56

I am unable to get the iBook to connect to my wireless network (Netgear router.) Two other Macs are running on it. When I try Kwifi manager it does not seem to do anything. I deleted devices (in root) but upon reboot they appear again. When readding them as suggeseted in a previous thread it makes no difference. They cannot activate, find the network, etc......

Any and all assistance is appreciated.

what security is running on the wifi network? (this can make a big diff if its not setup correctly) Have you tried manually creating the devices (using the wizard) after you've deleted them (and saved it after doing so). And if yes are the devices coming up and not finding the network or not activating at all (if you could post all the messages you get when you try to bring the device up)

Thanks for your reply.

As you requested.

No authentication running on network (WEP).

"Have you tried manually creating the devices (using the wizard) after you've deleted them (and saved it after doing so)"

Yes. They keep coming back over and over again.

"And if yes are the devices coming up and not finding the network or not activating at all (if you could post all the messages you get when you try to bring the device up)"

Messages:

Error for wireless request "Set Mode"(8B06)
SET failed on device eth0; invalid argument
Error for wireless request "Set Frequency" (8B04)
SET failed on device eth0; Operation not supported
Determining IP information
eth0:...SIOCSIFFLAGS: Cannot assign requested address
SIOCSIFFLAGS: Cannot assign requested address failed

Hope this helps.

I am not using an airport extreme card.

Perhaps I should reinstall YDL from scratch.

Thanks,

William
