I succeded to have X in my eMac¡¡¡

I always ask for help, in this case perhaps I could be usefull for someone :D
Here it is the XF86config that finally works fine to have X and tune them:
THE MOST TRICKY PART IS THE MODELINE LINE, till I didn't find the right one, no way to have X in YDL 4.0 and not all in YDL 3.01 nor mandrake nor gentoo also for ubuntu was fine, but is still quite a development distribution :wink:

My X would not fire up upon a regular install on an eMac 700MHz so what i did was:

login at su, vi /etc/X11/xfree86.conf.

i changed :

VertRefresh to 71.0 - 73.0

Save the changes type "startx' boom works like a charm!

I am complete newbie when it comes to linux so please assume i am an ignorant sob.
I got YLD4 installed on an eMac700 and yaboot starts up ok but then after a while the system hangs up and the screen goes blank. Near as I can work out it's when X fires up. So...
How do I enter the above config? I can't see my linux partitions from osX and if I boot into linux I just get a hanged system...
Help, please....

What is SOCKS proxy server?

umm...jose u have the right thread? consolation: you can do one of 2 things one try to go to a virtual terminal (f*+alt+ctrl) where * equals 1-6 f7 takes u back to the gui. and you should have a input ability there. If not the option 2 is to put in the first install disk boot off of it and instead of going threw install type rescue (i think-or something like that hit tab for options) and once you have a terminal there mount you hdd ("mkdir /mnt/hdd" "mount /dev/hda* /mnt/hdd) * is you partition # and use nano to edit the flie
