Well... I've been running uBuntu on an iMac G3... its been alright, but the g3 imacs arn't supported... and there are a lot of bugs that have really bothered me...

Last night i was talking to a friend of mine who suggested i check out yd linux. I was wondering which version was the last one supported for the G3 iMac. And also if there is any guides i could read over for the iMac G3s... Thanks

I don't know about YDL 6, but I had YDL 5.0.2 installed on a G3 400 for a while. It was OK ... not too fast, of course.

i was just wondering do you need all 6 cbs for an install? it would seem that ubuntu isn't as heavy since it runs a live disc on a single cd...

I do believe you'll need all 6 CDs ... in YDL 5 there were few options to customize what gets installed and there may be a lot you don't need that gets installed. When I installed on my iMac I used the DVD.

From what I can see, the Ubuntu live CD comes with much less to begin with, but has most of the basics you'd want already included. On the downside, there is no longer official PPC support for Ubuntu (see here). Community support appears to be good, though.
