I've got an old iMac with OS 9.? and YDL 3.?. The mac has apparently died--I doubt it's even worth getting it diagnosed at this point--the machine is just a rarely used second stringer. (It starts to turn on, then shuts off and smells like something is burning.) It has a 6GB Quantum drive in it--original equipment.
I don't think there's anything terribly important on it, but I thought I'd poke around in it just in case, if I could get at it. Since it appears to be a standard pci drive, I plugged it into an athlon-based box running linux, hoping that ext3 is the same everywhere. I can't mount anything and fdisk says there is no valid partition table on the drive. Does Apple use a different layout than the PC world? Am I just out of luck?
Thanks,
David
