simply No; Nvidia hasnt released the chip addressing schemes to support them w/ 3d accel. (the X11 driver "nv" only has framebuffer support) I think that this is because they have released their own linux drivers (x86 only sorry) but that leaves people on the minority systems in the cold. Us ppc users, alpha, maybe a few other platforms

Thanks, it's as I suspected. Now, If I can just find an übergeek to reverse engineer the x86 ones for me... Or, find compromising photos of nvidia staff...[/b][/u]

hi,
I guess after all this time things still have not changed for linux/ppc/nvidia. I've actually got a tower G5 and this has a 6800 ultra. Ah well, but there's no way i'm going back to ATI after suffering the 'black screen of death' with each power on!

Hoping that Nvidia change their policies on this subject...

Thanks, Steve.

unfortunatly never now as apple has gone to x86 platforms; Honestly Im surprised no-one has never reverse engineered the drivers but they may not see a need because it works w/ better then 90% of the hw out there

These intel Macs are so incredible and i can honestly say that i'll probably be going the way of an iMac when i next purchase. There's no need for me to go the power mac route again..

But that won't be for another year or so, lets see what happens then! Until then i'm totally happy, I don't really have a need for faster gfx anyhow on this new linux mac of mine. Running a treat too! :)

Thanks for the reply,
Steve
