Yellow Dog Linux

Well i had no success getting 3.0 to install so i opted for the 2.3 .. which was a success but only the base install... can anybody tell me how or what i need to apt-get 2.3 kde or gnome.
I'm guessing the install won't let me install personal or workstation because i'm limited to 1.4g.
I did try personal/worstation slimmed down to about a gig but still a no go.
maybe it's not even possible at this point, i just don't know so any help would be great:)

after the base install..

apt-cdrom add
apt-get install gnome

worked like a charm:)
