Installing YDL on RS6000 43p-260

i was wondering whether anyone had tried installing a new version(>3.0) of ydl on an IBM 43p-260 (type 7043-260). The only help I found on the internet was with SUSE, but booting cause the machine to freeze. The files from ydl champion (version1.2) don`t work, and I cannot seem to be able to even boot from them.
