I have YDL3 running nicely on an old G3 wallstreet powerbook.

YDL4 will no longer officially support 'Old World' macs such as these, but people here are already working on FAQs to help out with this.

You should find some useful articles on the Yellowdog support pages.

Any version of linux though that has a special PPC based kernel should work just fine on any PPC G3 cpu. You might have a component here and there that doesn't work correctly from the get go, but that'll just require some searching to find the correct drivers, etc.

I am running YDL on my beige G3 266. Everything works, I'm quite pleased with it. I just need to get used to it...

I am running YDL4 on a beige G3/300 and its soooo fine!. Do you need some 'more kernel arguments' to feed bootx with?
