Is there a list of which hardware runs which version better?

Where is the cut-off of where YDL 3.0 would be generally prefered
over YDL 4.1 or is YDL 4.1 always prefered?

probably the oldworld/newworld gap is a good place right now mainly b/c of the difficulty that people seem to have getting 4.x booting on oldworld
