Hardware upgrades for Beige G3

I inherited a Beige G3 from work. I upgraded the drive and installed YDL 3.0.1 on it.

Eventually, I'd like to upgrade the hardware.... USB/Firewire, video, processor. From other posts here and on the mailing lists, it looks like most upgrades work well. I was wondering if YDL will automatically recognize the new hardware, or if there's any extra configuration needed. Since I'm fairly new to Linux, I better start researching now....

Does anyone have a Sonnet Tempo Trio ATA/USB/Firewire board? How well does it work?

Thanks!

on your upgrades id just make sure that the daemon "kudzu" is active on boot=its the hardware autodetect bit

On my G3/300 minitower I have on PCI slots:

USB: OPTi inc. FireLink 82C861
Firewire: NEC Corporation IEEE 1394 [OrangeLink] Host Controler

USB is a go. At least it got my USB mice going plug&reboot&play. No clue about firewire since I have no FW devices at hand... but the kernel 'see' it. Confirmed by Hardware browser <hwbrowser>
