Personal LaserWriter 320 with YDL

Postby SpeedDemon » 08 Nov 2004, 14:01

Is there any way to print to a LocalTalk printer such as my Personal LaserWriter 320 if using YDL 4.0? Will one of the older versions support this if not 4.0, i.e. 3.0 or even older? Thanks for any information on this.

I'd kind of like to simplify my network as is. Right now I have an OS 9 PowerMac G3 Mini-tower that connects via localtalk to a Personal LaserWriter 320. I have a LocalTalk to ethernet bridge set up on the PowerMac which sends AppleTalk out over the Ethernet. Then I have an iMac (summer 2000) that is running Panther which I use to convert the AppleTalk to SAMBA so that I can print to the printer from Windows and Linux boxes.

I know that there must be a simpler way of doing this. I tried messing around with 'netatalk 2.01' on the Fedora 2.92 box, but I couldn't make any sense out of it and I don't even know if I got it to install correctly.

Thanks again for any help that you guys can give!
