What version for a 5260/100?

Hello,

About a year ago I bought from a church sale an old Power Mac 5260/100. I was wondering what version of YDL would work best for it. The specs, if you need them, follow:

CPU: PowerPC 603e

CPU Speed: 100/120 MHz

Bus Speed: 40 MHz

Data Path: 64 bit

ROM: 4 MB

RAM Type: 72 pin SIMM

Minimum RAM Speed: 80 ns

Onboard RAM: 0 MB

RAM Slots: 2

Maximum RAM: 64 MB

Level 1 Cache: 16 kB data, 16 kB instruction

Level 2 Cache: 256 kB

Monitor: 14" CRT (built-in)

VRAM: 1 MB

Maximum Resolution: 640x480

Slots: 1 LC PDS, comm, video i/o, TV

Floppy Drive: 1.4 MB SuperDrive

Optical Drive: 4x (100 MHz)/8x (120 MHz) CD-ROM

Hard Disk: 800 MB (100 MHz)/1.2 GB (120 MHz)

ATA Bus: IDE

ADB: 1

Serial: 2

SCSI: DB-25

Audio Out: stereo 16 bit mini

Audio In: mono 16 bit mini

Speaker(s): stereo

Microphone: mono

Gestalt ID: 41

Power: 125 Watts

Weight: 47 lbs.

Dimensions: 17.5" H x 15.1" W x 16" D

Minimum OS: 7.5.3

Maximum OS: 9.1

Being from a PC background, these specs seem meager, at best. But I really want to try and resurrect it, if not just to serve as a CD or MP3 player.

Thanks

Well, I've done quite a bit of playing with Power Mac 5400s amd 5500s, and I've never had much luck using YDL 3 or 4...i've made 2.0 work once, but that was only text. The best success I've had on my older machines was with PPC Debian.

I noticed that in your specs you say you have 0MB of onboard RAM :? that really probably slows down your system since it must rely completely on virtual memory from your HD, I highly suggest you get some real RAM for your mac even if it is old
