Mac Newbee needing my hand held through a install. AKA HELP

Postby CannonFotter » 21 Mar 2005, 17:46

I found an old Powerbook 3400c with 144meg of ram and a 3gig HDD for $100buck at a used computer store. It has a clean install of OS 8.0. I want to get YD installed so I can have a dedicated Linux box. I know enough about linux in the X86 world to be dangerious and less than nothing about a MAC (I know how to power on the laptop and use the touchpad).

I have the 4 YD 4.0 disks downloaded and burned to cds. I have tried the instruction for booting to a cd on http://www.yellowdoglinux.com/support/solutions/ydl_general/boot_cd.shtml with no luck. I found the bootx program and downloaded it, but i don't know how to open it. It is in a .sit file.

Thanks for the help in advanced.
