I was wondering if there is a way of adding alternate resolution options into yaboot so if one wanted to boot into either a HD video mode or a SD video mode all that would be required at start up is a hit of the tab key or maybe a command. I am interested this for two reasons; personally I would like to get a little better performance out of emulators when running fullscreen, I am also interested in giving other individuals the option at kboot so that if they are moving their ps3 between HD and SD sets they don't have to keep reediting yaboot.

Yes, there is a way to specify alternate resolution options in yaboot.

P.S.

Either 1024x768 or 800x600 would work, but is it not possible?

Everything looks very clear, better than any other resolution I have tried. The only problem is I have about 4 inches of overscan on all 4 sides. I'm not sure what to try to fix this. If I have to deal with the overscan I will but I was just wondering if there was a way to fine tune it a bit. Either way thanks for all of your help!! d

You might be able to fix that in your monitor. Look for a "one to one" setting or "full display", etc.
