Installing Yellow Dog Linux 5.0.2 on IBM P5 series
This guide is for installing YDL 5.0.2 on a IBM P5 series (Including OpenPower) using a serial connection
Level: Intermediate
Prepare for Install
- Connect a null modem serial cable to the P5 185, connect to it from a working machine using a program such as kermit, the line speed for the P5 185 is 9600, P5 420Q is 19200, OpenPower is 19200 others may vary
- Insert DVD
- Power on machine
- At the “boot: “ prompt hit [ENTER] for a text install over serial or type “linux vnc” [ENTER] for installing via a vnc session
- Continue with following Anaconda through the install
