TOPIC: Modem still won't connect?



Introduction
This is for people who have their modem connect, everything looks fine, but they are unable to connect to the Internet with a web browser, or anything.

Do this
  1. Log into a shell as root and:

    netstat -r [ENTER]
  2. Look for the line that begins with 'Default.' If this line has eth0 at the last column we have found the problem. If this is the case, edit the configuration file below by typing:

    pico /etc/sysconfig/network [ENTER]
  3. Look for this line 'GATEWAYDEV=eth0' and change it to:

    GATEWAYDEV=ppp0
  4. Save your work and exit.
  5. Restart your computer and start up the modem. This should get you connected properly.
