- Select "Unsubscribed channels" from the left menubar
- Subscribe the "Yellow Dog Linux 2.2" Channel by clicking on the link and pressing the "subscribe" button at the right. You will see a list of possible updates including security, urgent and suggested updates for your Yellow Dog Linux installation.
- If you are not using the Gnome Desktop Environment, skip the following two steps,
- Select "Unsubscribed channels" from the left menubar again.
- Subscribe the "Ximian Gnome" Channel by clicking on the link and pressing the "subscribe" button at the right. You will see a list of possible updates including security, urgent and suggested updates for the Gnome components you installed.
Installing/Removing/Updating packets
- Select "Subscribed channels" from the left menubar
- Choose one of the channels you like to install/remove/update packets from.
- Choose your task at the top right by pressing one of the three buttons "Update", "Install" or "Remove"
Due to the fact that Ximian Red Carpet keeps synchronized to the Yellow Dog Linux Distribution tree, packets you added afterwards may cause conflicts or missing dependancies. A good example is KDE 3.
Often updates can get too big, if you subscribed to a lot of channels, you can always unsubscribe a channel by using the "unsubscribe" entry in the "Settings" menu in the menubar.
